Results

Freedom from the weight obsession. I don’t know about you, but every time I dieted in the past, I felt like I was white-knuckling it. I was constantly worried about regaining the weight, telling myself what I should and shouldn’t eat, and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Since this is a way of living, not a diet or a program based on deprivation, there’s no need to white-knuckle it. You will be free from worrying about food and your weight.

Create a true connection to your body and have the ability to fuel it according to its needs. Diets by nature set us up to ignore our bodies. They tell us to eat certain foods at certain times to achieve results. We become disconnected from the best tool we have to know when we’re hungry and full and what we should eat—our own bodies. I will teach you how to listen to your body, fuel it according to its needs and exercise to honor it.

Stop beating yourself up—develop a kind and supportive relationship with yourself. You’ll learn that how you feel about yourself isn’t contingent upon the number on the scale. You’ll learn to appreciate your body instead of abusing it. You’ll learn to forgive, make peace and value who you are and what you have to offer the world. Extra weight has no place on the outside of someone who is happy in the inside.

Lasting weight loss using tools that address the cause of the weight, not just the symptoms. I do not promise you’ll “lose 30 lbs. in 30 days!!!” or any of that hype. What I do promise is that if you use the tools and do this work, you only need to lose the weight one more time. If you’re looking for a quick fix, working with me will not be a match for you. If you’re looking to change your life, be truly happy, and learn how to make and keep commitments to yourself, then we’re going to have a great time working together.

My Philosophy

It is not about your weight. I hear you saying “Yes it is!” but on some level you know that the weight is a reflection of what you believe about yourself. I believe that our outward appearance is a reflection of our inner lives. We need to change how we think and feel on the inside for the outside to change.
Lasting weight loss is an inside job. It’s really hard to lose weight and keep it off without uncovering your beliefs about food, eating, exercise and yourself.

I am not about foo-foo or squishy concepts. I do believe that our minds are powerful and our thoughts (beliefs) create our feelings, actions and results in life. I do believe in spending more time talking about what you’re thinking and feeling than what you’re eating.

Deprivation sucks. Deprivation leads to overindulgence. How many times have you started a strict diet only to find yourself knee-deep in Ho-Ho’s after the first day? When we deprive ourselves of food to fuel our body or even food that just tastes great, we set ourselves up to overindulge. Here’s a big revelation: deprivation does not lead to weight loss, it prevents it.

You know what’s best for you. You may have lost faith in yourself, but that’s not who you really are. Your essential self always knows what’s right for you. My job is to give you the tools to tune into and trust yourself.

You CAN do it. You are strong. You are courageous. You are willing to do the work. There is no special quality you need to acquire to lose weight, you already have it.

What Makes Working With Me Unique?

I have been where you are. I’d struggled with my weight for years; I was up to 55 lbs heavier than I am now. I felt unhappy and uncomfortable. I would exercise and not eat well, eat well and not exercise, I could never seem to get myself firing on all cylinders. I thought I just lacked willpower; that I just needed to suck it up and gut it out. Thank god I was wrong about that. I learned that if I addressed what was causing me to reach for the food, I no longer felt the need to overeat.

I’m a coach; I’m not the food police. My job as a coach is to give you the tools to be successful in your goal to lose weight and be happier. I help you become more aware of how and why you eat, teach you a different way to think about exercise and help you uncover and unwind all those weird diet rules and beliefs we pick up along the way. I never criticize or judge—as a matter of fact, I help clients stop doing this to themselves. I will help you design your life in a way that works for you: how you fuel your body, when you eat, how you exercise and what you choose to believe are all up to you. Your accountability is always to yourself.

Laughter is sacred (and just about nothing else is). I am a goofball at heart. Life is too short to take it all so seriously. We will work hard on dissolving all those beliefs that appear to be so real. And we’ll have lots of laughs too. I think ultimately it’s not about losing weight; it’s about being more joyful—I figure you should start being more joyful now and the pounds will follow your lead.
