Freedom from the weight obsession. Since this is a way of living, not a diet or a program based on deprivation, there’s no need to white-knuckle it. You will be free from worrying about food and your weight.
Create a true connection to your body and have the ability to fuel it according to its needs. Diets by nature set us up to ignore our bodies. I will teach you how to listen to your body, fuel it according to its needs and exercise to honor it.
Stop beating yourself up—develop a kind and supportive relationship with yourself. You’ll learn that how you feel about yourself isn’t contingent upon the number on the scale. You’ll learn to forgive, make peace and value who you are and what you have to offer the world. Extra weight has no place on the outside of someone who is happy in the inside.
Lasting weight loss using tools that address the cause of the weight, not just the symptoms. I do not promise you’ll “lose 30 lbs. in 30 days!!!” or any of that hype. What I do promise is that if you use the tools and do this work, you only need to lose the weight one more time. If you’re looking for a quick fix, working with me will not be a match for you. If you’re looking to change your life, be truly happy, and learn how to make and keep commitments to yourself, then we’re going to have a great time working together.
It is not about your weight. I hear you saying “Yes it is!” but I believe that our outward appearance is a reflection of our inner lives. We need to change how we think on the inside for the outside to change.
I am not about foo-foo or squishy concepts. I do believe that our minds are powerful and our thoughts (beliefs) create our feelings, actions and results in life. I do believe in spending more time talking about what you’re thinking and feeling than what you’re eating.
Deprivation sucks. Deprivation leads to overindulgence. How many times have you started a strict diet only to find yourself knee-deep in Ho-Ho’s after the first day? Here’s a big revelation: deprivation does not lead to weight loss, it prevents it.
You know what’s best for you. You may have lost faith in yourself, but that’s not who you really are. Your essential self always knows what’s right for you. My job is to give you the tools to tune into and trust yourself.
You CAN do it. You are strong. You are courageous. You are willing to do the work. There is no special quality you need to acquire to lose weight, you already have it.
I have been where you are. I’d struggled with my weight for years; I was up to 55 lbs heavier than I am now. I felt unhappy and uncomfortable. I thought I lacked willpower; that I just needed to suck it up and gut it out. Thank god I was wrong about that.
I’m a coach; I’m not the food police. My job is to give you the tools to be successful in your goal to lose weight and be happier. I will help you design your life in a way that works for you: how you fuel your body, when you eat, how you exercise and what you choose to believe are all up to you. Your accountability is always to yourself.
Laughter is sacred (and just about nothing else is). Life is too short to take it all so seriously. We will work hard on dissolving all those beliefs that appear to be so real. And we’ll have lots of laughs too.
